In 1998, John Martone published my chapbook, The Backs of Angels, as part of his Tel-let series. The subject matter and formal components of the poems definitely reflect my interest in mid-twentieth century American poetics, including elements of Objectivism, English-language haikai, and the San Francisco Renaissance. These same interests later became my motivation for founding Mountains and Rivers Press and publishing the poetry of other writers whose work is informed by some of these same traditions.
